I understand, as for years, I struggled to understand the Bible, and always felt like a “baby Christian”. I felt stuck and didn’t know how to achieve breakthrough in my life. I also desired a mentor – one who would come beside me, to help me grow spiritually. I was living Hosea 4:6: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Even though I went to church every week (often twice), read my Bible consistently, served and joined Bible studies, I didn’t know how to “rightly divide the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15). I did the Christian disciplines but had little understanding of my identity in Christ, and as a result, I wasn’t maturing.
It wasn’t until I was at the lowest time in my life–when my husband and I experienced marital separation, where I desperately cried out to know God intimately and to be made whole. I then began a journey of seeking help to expose the lies I was believing and to experience victory in every area of my life. I had a professional Christian counselor and mentor who helped me breakthrough the barriers to experience victory and growth, and then went to Andrew Wommack’s Charis Bible College to immerse myself in God’s Word.
We need to have spiritual mentors/teachers/coaches in order to mature and experience the life God intends for us! I have been teaching God’s Word and mentoring women for over fourteen years, and it’s been a thrill to see them grow and go to higher levels…to thrive in all aspects of their lives!
